Dear 2014

First off, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays guys!!! Just thought I put that out there first before I start my blog.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!!!
Since 2014 is coming to an end, and 2015 is coming faster than I expected, I thought maybe it's time for me to reply the letter I wrote to myself in the beginning of this year. And I know I'm not yet the Phyllis Nutt of 2015 yet, I thought it's better to reply it now before I get caught up with all the New Year's jazz and the school re-opening fiasco. So without further a due, here we go...

2015 Loading....
Dear Phyllis Nutt of the beginning of 2014,

I've been better, past me. As per your first question, I'm truly sorry to tell you that the answer is no. I definitely did not constantly blog because I was busy procrastinating by watching YouTube videos and doing my school work in the last minute. Although I did occasionally post blogs when I'm on a holiday, ideas and my blogging skills didn't exactly improve a lot. Unfortunately, you didn't gain any followers because of your blogging schedule, but at least your viewers did increase. So I guess it isn't all failure?

Secondly, I hope you didn't get your hopes too high on this one because I didn't exactly slim down this year. In fact, I think I've gotten a little plummer, thanks to the Vietnam holiday and Christmas dinners. But you did get a little taller, a little. You can control a diet, only when you realized you're getting heavier, and you definitely didn't get any active in that exercise bit. Come think of it, I think I only went on the treadmill twice this whole year. Oops...

Thirdly, the me who's reading this right now didn't exactly did well in her studies, but at least she did manage to stay in the class she's in. And no, you're still glued to your phone no matter how important the task at hand is. But at least your phone didn't got confiscated by your mum like the previous years. So I guess that means an improvement? I don't know... In conclusion to this question, I guess you did okay. Just okay.

Fourthly, you see wrongly. I didn't get any braver and nothing near daring. My face definitely did not get any thicker and as if it's not bad enough, I care a lot more of what people think of me. But you did managed to make some new friends with your awkward social skills, even when you loose some on the way. But don't worry, past me, I promise I'll improve my social skills (or at least improve my braveness) and will start a YouTube channel somewhere around next year. Let's just hope I won't shy away when the time comes.

Lastly, question number five. I really wish I could say that this year was one of the great years in my life, but in honest, it wasn't. If I were to choose, I'd take 2013 anytime. I lost a few friends in the journey of 2014, I got stressed and depressed somewhere along the journey and I think I had a little existential crisis at one point. But hey, I'm still here right? (Cue the cheesy quote) As they say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger! So here I am, smiling back at the obstacles I've overcome. This definitely isn't one of the best years, but it sure is one of the years where I learned a whole lot of things. I guess it's safe to say, I am stronger with only a tad bit of injury. (Physically and emotionally. Go figures!)

So that's all. I hope you're not really disappointed with me. Or you? I don't know, I'm getting confused already(again). Anyways, this year isn't exactly filled sorrows and darkness. Believe it or not, despite my 'tough journey' of 2014, there's actually some sweet memories in between the bad ones. All in all, I won't look back at how awesome 2013 was and sulked at how 2014 sucked. Instead, I'm just going to think the best has yet to come and welcome 2015! I just hope 2015 could treat me nicer than 2014. Bye for now, past me!!!!

Love,
Phyllis Nutt

So that's it, my reply to the Phyllis Nutt of 1/1/2014. I hope you enjoyed it. By the way, how'd you guys did in a year's time? Did you accomplish a certain goal or maybe improved a certain skills? Or did you guys failed at completing your New Year's resolutions, just like me? On that note, are you planning on creating a list of New Year's resolutions or you're going to be just like me and let things be as they go?

Basically my resolutions right now
And that's it. Bye guys and Happy Blogging!

A Nutty Holiday

Hi guys! Gosh, it's been so long since I've blogged. You know how every students will blame school for giving them too much pressure that they can't really do something else? Well, that's what I'm going to do, I blame school for all the unnecessary school work that made me unable to blog for almost half a year. Anyways, since now it's the school holidays, I thought it'd be the perfect time to continue my blog. At first I really have no idea what to blog about, but since now I'm in Vietnam with my family for a short vacation, I thought why not blog about my trip instead?
The city view of Hanoi from my tour bus

The outside view of Noi Bai International Airport

The inside view of Noi Bai International Airport

A random sign board which proves that I really am in Hanoi, Vietnam

A traditional Vietnam dish my family and I had for lunch

Handicraft / Souvenirs

The Turtle Temple in Hoan Kiem River

Local hawker store

More handicraft / souvenirs

Hanoi's 36 Streets

The Lotus Water Puppet Theatre

So I guess that's all for today. After all, this is my very first day in Vietnam. Maybe I'll post some more pictures of Vietnam tomorrow, provided I can find a decent internet connection, of course. No matter what, I'd still have spend most of my time with my family, it is a family vacation after all. That's mostly why I love traveling, it always act as a getaway from all the stresses in life for me. At least I have a week or so to clear my mind and rethink stuff. What do you think? What is traveling to you?

Happy Bloggings!!!

(P/s, sorry for the unorganized pictures series, it's the first time I tried blogging via phone instead of my usual laptop.)

BRATs For Life

So basically, it's the school holidays, or else how would I even have the time to update my blog? Anyways, I've been really busy during this school break because somehow I was able to feel up my time with school activities and holiday's workshops. (Please note I'm not the kind of person who loves to go on adventures and meet new people. A cup of coffee in the comforts of my room and a decent WIFI connection is already heaven to me.) But to my surprise, there is this one particular workshop that was able to catch my interest and in the end, gave me the most amazing experience I could ever have. And this workshop is the Star Paper's Young Journalist Workshop --- the BRATs!

Oh look, a free cap, notebook and a tag!

For those who do not know me well, I'm mostly the awkward mothball who always avoid human interactions if I were to be in an unfamiliar habitat. So going to this workshop, which was not held in my hometown, was really challenging to me, seeing that I was the only one selected to join among my friends. (Yes, miraculously, I still have friends.) And on the way there, I would be lying if I said I wasn't trying to back out or think up some weird excuses to not go to this workshop.

So why exactly did I even signed up if I knew I was going to be this nervous in the first place? Well, this is because since I was 14, I started to wonder how it would be if I were a journalist. My mum used to say that the life of a journalist does not suite me, but being the stubborn girl I am, I refuse to believe it. And also for the fact that I love writing and having my name published on a newspaper article just sounds really thrilling.

Anyways, on the first day of the workshop, it was pretty cool. We get to spend the whole day cooped up on the highest floor of the hotel and spend the rest of the day going through various workshop to sharpen our interviewing skills, improve our photography skills, etc. etc... Towards the end of the day, we were suddenly given a so-called test where we were suppose to interview one of our mentors. And for some unknown reason, I actually signed myself up for the video-editing team. But in the end, being the little nervous wreck that I am, my first video was an epic FAIL. So... Hooray!! (Note the sarcasm)

Whereas on the second day, we were all given our very first assignment and were supposed to work in teams. (BTW, my team is Team Strypes) Again, for some unknown reason, I volunteered myself to be in the video-editing team instead of the writing team. Go figures! To cut the long story short, the second video that I edit turns out to be ANOTHER disaster and was done WAY passed our deadline. And to make the matter worse, I actually delete some original cuts of  the video by accident. So, when I was asked to re-edit the whole video... Well, you get the picture.

But on the third day when we were given our second field assignment, I made it my duty to learn from my mistake and do a better job. So we went to this fishing village called Kuala Sangga and I have to say, it was pretty amaze balls! I even went out of my comfort zone and talked/interviewed some of the locals there. In the end, my second video came out better than the previous ones and one of the mentors was shocked to see that I actually talk. (Our team was suppose to present our storyboard for the video, and since I was in-charge of it, I present it, which leads to me surprising one of our mentors.) Oh yeah, we even had this crazy 'party' where everybody just go wild and crazy before going to bed. Ever see a group of guys dancing to 'Single Ladies'? Well, trust me, it could be REALLY hilarious.

On the fourth day, aka the last day of the workshop, we all gather for the last time and watched each team's video. In all honesty, I really think the videos suck mainly because I edited it. So in the end, the second video was handed to another team member to edit because I kind of gave up on it whilst I just gave the third video a little more touch-up. All in all, I have to admit, it was a pretty cool, fun, amazing workshop that could really help you gain plenty of experience. Although I think I might have left a few bad impressions for the mentors ( Impressions of me being a shy, awkward mothball who couldn't get the job right, if you're wondering), I had a great time there and would not hesitate to further my BRATs journey with them. (Only if they are still willing to accept me, of course.) So for those of you who are really interested in being a journalist, I highly recommend joining the Star Paper's Young Journalist Workshop.

(Sorry, this was supposed to be posted a few months ago, but I didn't realize it was just save as draft. So if the dates got a little different, don't hate on me.. >.<)

Forever Peanut, the Upper Class

Hello everybody! According to my previous blog posts, I am indeed back to school. Which is in fact, really depressing. But hey, I still have another one and a half year to go till I graduate, so yea!

Anyways, while I was schooling, I realized that there were so many different types of people. I know, I know, people are not meant to be same, but still, some are just too 'limited edition' that they became 'one of a kind' of annoying. So without further a due, let's gets started with the Peanut Analysis Pyramid of Types of Students.

Okay, I know this has nothing to do with this whole blog post, but still, it's so damn right!!
Spare with me, I have a Nutt-y brain...

Number 1: The Hermione Granger

xxx :"Teacher, do we..."
Me :"Oh no you don't!"
I've been schooling for at least 9 years now, and every single year, there will always be this little kid who just have to do every single thing the teacher told us to do ON TIME. I mean, yeah, I know you want to be a little goody-two-shoes, and sure you get to improve your studies, and of course who could miss out on having a very good self-discipline. But when you start reminding the teacher of the homework she gave on who-knows what day, and nobody in class except you done it, it's gets personal. Just because of your one comment on 'Teacher, do we need to pass up this homework?', I have to sacrifice my lunchtime to finish up that one homework where nobody except you remembers. Also, they are the ones who have these panic attacks just because they've forgotten about that one exercise. Seriously? If I were like this, I would've resurrected for the umpteenth time right now and probably die in...

Number 2: The Irene Katz

The Beatles fangirl Irene Katz whose iconic image ended up touring with Paul McCartney
Oh, don't give me that I-don't-know-what-you're-trying-to-say look, everybody knows that in every single classroom, there will always be that bunch of girls that will fangirl over something ANYTIME. For example, you're doing an experiment in a science lab when suddenly someone mentioned their favorite idol, they fangirl, right there and then. Sure it's fun to see your reaction by just hearing the person's/band's name, but when everyone else needs some serious time out, your fangirl-ing gets annoying. Like when it's an examination week and everybody's studying, it's really annoying if you just started screaming and hyperventilating all of a sudden. I'm not sure about you guys, but the way the 'Irene Katz' in my class fangirl, it would totally put Tyler Oakley to shame, and everybody knows he's the Queen.

Number 3: The Ass-Kisser

More meme
First of all, real sorry about the rough language. And before I say anything, think hard for a moment. Is there anybody in your class that is constantly trying to please people until the extreme? If yes, then they're definitely an Ass-Kisser; If no, then beware for you may be that little Bum-Lover. I know it's great to be please from time to time, but when these Butt-Obsessed people over do it, it gets really disturbing. Not to brag, but I am currently in the Fourth Form in my school, which also means that I'm a well respected senior (also including the fact that I'm a prefect... Just saying ;P). Anyways, I know as a junior, you guys want to get to know your seniors a bit better or maybe just want to be on their good side, but when you do it to the extreme (like maybe bowing to them), it gets weird. Unless I'm the President's daughter or somehow related to the Queen of England, then you may bow before me, other than that, please don't.

Number 4: The Awkward Penguin

Awkward...
You know that person. The one who always sits there and doesn't have much to talk to, and when you suddenly have the feeling of being friendly and decided to ask him/her a question, they would probably reply you a one-word answer, making the whole situation really awkward because you have no idea what to ask next. Or perhaps that really friendly person who likes to talk to people but always making the mistake of replying the wrong things which also makes the whole situation awkward. Yes, they are the Socially Awkward Penguin. No offence though, I'm sure you'll get the hang of it.... As in not being even more awkward, of course... *awkward*

Number 5: The Queen Bee

You can call me Queen Bee...
Alas, the queen, who can forget the queen? Wait, you think the Queen I meant is the teacher's pet, all-star athlete and number one place in school? Heck, no. The Queen I meant is actually the ones who doesn't know what the hell is going on, have the skill to manipulate the others to give in to them and always have a to get out of things, a.k.a me. For example, don't know you have an assignment due today? Well, go get a friend and convince them to let you copy the answers. Don't know why that two best friends got into a fight? Well, ask your worker bees to buzz you the whole juicy honey. Accidentally broke a friend's trust? Apologize to them but remain innocent and manipulate them into thinking they're in the wrong too for it takes two hands to clap. Now, you get me?

So that is all for today's blog, I'm really sorry if any of the things I mentioned were a bit offensive to you. But please do keep in  mind that it was all just for fun's sake. But if the person you know are somehow in the list above and you don't want to offence them by telling it to their face, why don't you just share this blog instead? I hope you guys enjoyed it and I'll see you guys next time! Happy Blogging!

How to Imagine the Perfect Guy

I know I've just blogged a few days ago, and my goal is to blog once a week, but hey, you can't really put your inspiration on hold, right? Or can you?

Have you guys ever imagine how your future prince charming will be? Or perhaps even wonder how your ideal guy looks like? If you don't, not to worry for Forever Peanut is here to teach you. So if one day a guy come knocking on your door and say, "Ummm, sorry to interrupt you but I think the type of guy you're trying to find is actually me.", all you have to do is follow me  and tell your friends about me. So, without any further a due, let's gets started!!!

Number 1: The Perfect Face and Body

Imagining your perfect guy is like making a salad. So firstly, pick a base, which for this case is the face and body. I personally would choose Kyle Ellison the male model for this one because, well, he's a super cool, super handsome, super hot model. I first saw him on the TV series 'The Face' and his face and features somehow burned right in my mind. This kind of scenario has never happened to me before, so I'm guessing he should be perfect for my base.

Kyle Ellison

Number 2: The Perfect Eyes

Now the eyes are like adding the extra greenery into your salad. For me, I'd choose Connor Franta's eyes because they're just so damn GORGEOUS! At first you may think it's like verdigris, but it's actually green. I love green eyes because I think they're really unique. Or maybe it's just because I only have a pair of brownish-black irises and seeing people with green ones makes me jealous.

Connor Franta

 Number 3: The Perfect Hair

Next stop, is the hair. Now this step is like adding a pop of color into your salad, so it could be any choice you like. You can even go to the extreme by having several hair-dos in one go so that your perfect guy can always change his hair. But in my opinion, I think I'll go with Joey Graceffa's hair. I have to admit, this guy can seriously pull off any hairstyle he choose and look super good in it. Believe it or not, even when he wakes up in the morning, you'd think he spent hours of hair-gelling and hair-blowing. Joey Graceffa, I salute you for having such beautiful hair.

Joey Graceffa

Number 4: The Perfect Accent

To tell you guys the truth, I've always have a thing for British accents. So for this step, I would certainly choose Joe Sugg (some of you may know him as ThatcherJoe though) because he's accent just drives me crazy. Its weird how the reason I watch his videos is to listen to his voice. Anyways, this is step is like giving your salad a little bit of crunch to make it even more exciting. So just choose any accent you desire and throw it in your perfect guy's list.

Joe Sugg

Number 5: The Perfect Height

After choosing all those perfect things for your perfect guy, it's time to choose his perfect height. This step is like powering up your salad with some protein, so remember to pick the height of your perfect guy according to his body. For me, I'd choose Harry Styles from One Direction. If you haven't know, he's about 180cm (5'11'') tall, so he's the perfect height for my perfect guy.

Harry Styles

Number 6: The Perfect Personality

Lastly, this is the last step of imagining your perfect guy, it also the most important of all, for it is like choosing the best dressing for your salad. If you chose the wrong dressing, your salad is as good as nothing. I was struggling between choosing Alfie Deyes or Jim Chapman just now, but then I thought : Hey! Why can't I have both of them? So now, my perfect guy consist of both Alfie and Jim's personality.

Alfie Deyes on the left, Jim Chapman on the right

And there you have it guys, the perfect guy for me. How have your perfect guy been going? I know this blog is mainly for girls, but if your a boy, this blog could also help you get a date with your crush. Try find out how your crush's perfect guy is, and be that guy for her. Of course don't forget to always be yourself though. Wait, does that made any sense to you? Well, I hope you enjoyed this blog and I'll see you all next week. Happy Blogging!

New Year New Nutt

So the year 2013 has finally come to an end and I believe every country now has already entered the year 2014, even California who is fashionably late every year. At this point of year, every blog you read will either be New Year's Resolutions or how 2014 will be. So instead of blogging those stuff, which is too mainstream, I decided to blog about something different. A letter. That's what I'll be blogging. I'll write myself a letter and read it a year later to see if I'm still the same person. So, here it goes...

Dear Phyllis Nutt of 2015,

How have you been, future me? I'm writing to you today because it's the first day of 2014, and unlike other bloggers who are most probably going to write stuff like "New Year New Me" or "New Year's Resolutions", I wanted to blog about something special, which is wondering how I'd be in a year's time.

I picture my future self having no problem with blogging and can easily pop out an idea anytime, anywhere. My blogging skills will definitely improve and when I look back at my first blog, I'd laugh at myself and wished that I hadn't even published it. And my viewers would also increase ten times and hopefully gain some followers. So, did I accomplish that?

Second of all, I dream my future self would be slimmer and taller, not to mention prettier. I also wish that I'd control my diet a bit more and do loads of exercise. This would seem like an impossible goal to reach, but hey, it's not a New Year's Resolution, so who really cares? A girl can dream though, right?

Thirdly, I hope that the me who is reading this right now(or rather in the future)would do better in her studies and not constantly being glued to her phone. It would be even better if I could maintain in the class I'm in this year(2014, of course)or even go up a class. So, future me, what is my rank? Did I improve or I shouldn't ask for an answer at all?

Number four, I see myself as a brave and daring girl who dare to do anything she wants. That her face would be thick enough and not care what other people's thoughts. it's because the present me is a coward, that's why I started blogging instead of posting videos on YouTube. I also see myself being the first one to start a conversation with a stranger and hopefully become friends with them. Do you think I've done that too, future self?

At last, number five, how's 2014? Is it as good as 2013? Did you enjoy it? If you were to choose, which would you prefer, 2014 or 2013? I hope you enjoy it though, it's your sweet sixteen! I hope you have overcome any obstacles you've faced and has smile over your back thinking that it was actually nothing. So, how am I in a year's time? Did I change a lot? Am I stronger or am I wretched?

I really hope I would receive good news from you, future self. And I also hope that 2014 won't be too cruel to me, or is it you? I'm not sure, I'm confused already. Anyways, hope to get a reply in a year's time, goodbye!

Love,
 Phyllis Nutt
1/1/2014

So there you have it, my New Year's letter. I hope you guys enjoyed it. By the way, what are your New Year's plans? Are you going to do resolutions or are you going to become a new you? Comment it down below and check it out a year later to see how much you've accomplished. To end my New Year's blog, I highly recommend you guys these two videos which I think it's hilarious and awesome. Hope you have a great week ahead and happy blogging!
